Where feasible, existing finishes and fittings have been retained, and tied in with new elements. Neutral and cold finishes have been offset with rich,

warm-coloured wood.

Existing fireplaces have been redecorated, to read together with woodwork and create an elegant play of light and shadows in an eclectic setting, juxtaposed with Scandinavian-inspired, minimal furniture.

Soft furnishings and light tones of the interiors are punctuated by dark wood of the stained staircase, mirrored built-in storage, and hardware.

A mix of two metals - brushed nickel and antique bronze - has been used on the bathroom. This design decision creates a certain hierarchy within the space, thus giving it complexity and richness.

The study boasts a bespoke, rounded, two-tier reveal detail, which unites the top and bottom storage in a well-proportioned manner.

The newly formed boot room, accessed through the separate lower ground floor entrance, allows for the top levels to be unaffected by the muddy wellies after park walks. The room also doubles up as a utility and houses a dog bath.
